#EOFF. An American Silver covered tureen. Hallmark for GarretEoff (1779-1845). Size: 11" across (handle to handle) and 11" tall. Weight 59 oz. Late Federal Period, c. 1920. Monogramed in script: "From the will of Oliver Wolcott (Jr.)". Wolcott was the Governor of Connecticut and the last surviving member of George Washington's Staff. The Island fort adjoining Newport Rhode Island which has been named Fort Washington was renamed Fort Wolcott (now it is called Goat Island). So the value of this piece is not necessarily who made it, but who owned it. A rare piece of American History. There are examples of Eoff's works in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Descended from the family. Inquiries.
