# 5601. A silver on copper footed bowl, depicting a bacchanal scene with Roman figures dancing and playing musical instruments. Gilded Age era from the workshop of and signed "E.F. Caldwell & Co. New York" Size: 4" across and 2.5" tall. The silver appears worn revealing the copper but this was intentional to reflect an aged bowl. Documented in a catalogue of Caldwell decorative arts in the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in NYC. Caldwell was most well known for its extraordinary design, production and execution of lighting however it did produce beautiful decorative objects such as table frames, desk sets and bowls such as the one pictured here.
