# 321. A Zsolnay Flower pot. Size: 8" wide x 5" deep x 7" tall. Age: 1880. Condition: hairline crack as noted in one of the photos with tiny flake loss to the outer glaze. Information about this flower pot may be found on the BARD College Catalogue titled: "Hungarian Ceramics from the Zsolnay Manufactory" on page 90. As stated "18. Drawing for flowerport with 'English figures", 1880. Pattern sheet # 132. Designed by Armin (Hermann) Klein" The watercolor details all four sides of this charming scene. A young girl ties up the branches of a potted tree while a winged angel with a bow looks on. The young girl is in a fenced in yard of trees flowers and a garden bench. This flowerpot is factory marked with the standard blue pencil underglaze mark of the era plus there is a hand inscribed form number '606' and incised 'z w pecs. Armin Klein specialized in this style decoration and his pieces were successfully sold in Vienna, the United States and England. P.O.R.
