Power lines on Spring Street at Narragansett. This is a problem within the scope of Historic Preservation. Power: electricity, telephone and cable are necessary for a community; however the continued addition of cables suspended on poles within this Newport Historic District is very much detracting from the streetscape.

Continuing down Spring Street.

Cox cable systems have compounded the tangle of lines on Spring and other Newport streets.

Spring Street just past the library.

This tangled mess of lines on the left image (the image is on the right if there were no lines) is again on Spring just before Mill in front of two Newport Restoration Houses. Feeder lines go to both sides of Spring Street and with multiple apartments each with their own needs many lines are needed to support those residents and businesses who depend on power and communication.

Detail of the powers lines in the above image.

Here is shown images of a comparison of lines and No lines in a streetscape.
What is the solution? Bury the lines.
