219 Spring Street / located at Spring and Prospect Hill Street. Not lived in. The porch is pulling away from the main body of the house. Lower pillaster door elements are separated from the door surround. Vines are growing between the interior windows and the storms. The foundation on the right front is pulling away from the main sills. The chimney which was a very large center chimney was removed about 2 years ago, the period bricks were disposed of in a dumpster and the hole in the roof was just covered over. The clapboards may not be salvaged. If not attended to, this once beautiful period early 19th century Newport City Mansion House may not survive.

Ivy, which covered this side of the home was removed a couple of years ago.

You can see the vines growing between the storm and the interior window sash.


The bottom moulding of the door are separated and will soon be lost to the elements.

The existence of two electric meters leads one to believe that there is live electricity in this home.


The cut sandstone foundation stones have pulled away from the front left of the house. Winter water - freezing, if not properly sealed can cause severe foundation issues.

The side porch is pulling away from the main body of the house.
