New York: Privately Printed, 1933. Limited edition of 800 copies on Archer paper, bound in buckram / 200 copies on Rives paper, bound in half levant, of which fifty are for sale.
This work chronicles the first navigation of the globe under the United States Naval Reserve Yacht Pennant, which took place from July7, 1931 to March 4, 1932. It contains an account of the adventures in navigation, diversions, picturesque scenes, everyday life of remote places, and the taking of specimens for the Vanderbilt Marine Museum under the command of William Vanderbilt on his yacht Alva.
William Vanderbilt provided the financial backing, the piscatorial expertise, some of the photography, as well as serving as captain and primary navigator on the voyage of discovery and scientific research. This is a rare volume that seldom comes on the market. P.O.R.
