Item Metal2. A fine pewter charger. Size: 16.5" diameter. Inscribed on the wide front view rim with the name of Elizabeth Blackwell. Marks: very faint hall mark on the back of this large charger. Condition: considerable patina scuffing to the surface and an old hole repair to the inner bowl. P.O.R.
The hall marks appears to be a shield with initials inside the hall mark. The marks is so faint that it is really impossible to read.

Continuing with the inscription of the name Blackwell. The was a noted Elizabeth Blackwell in America, she was the first woman physician. This charger appears to predate her life. There was an other woman of note with the name Elizabeth Blackwell; from the 18th Century who was an artist of Botanical works.
