# CT1. A pair of framed pastel portraits. Artist: Frederike Emile Auguste O'Connell. Born in Potsdam on March 28, 1822 and died in Paris in 1885. A German painter and portraitist, her work was in vogue among the Parisian social set of the Second Empire. O'Connell lived and worked in La Place Vintimille, in Paris. Portrait of a young girl with red ribbons, 1856 and portrait of a young girl holding roses 1857. Size: Each frame is 24" x 32". Provenance from the collection of Diane Burn. Condition: scattered foxing and minor discolorations throughout. Not examined outside of the frame. These portraits appear to be of sisters. O'Connell was interested in the rights of humanity and the liberty of women. One of her pieces is inventoried at the National Gallery in Washington, DC. Price for the pair is $7,500.00.
