Antique Lighting from The Drawing Room

Item number 5276. A Renaissance/Aesthetic Piano Lamp. Marked Shreve Crump & Low Boston. Possibly made by Gorham. Size: the footprint is 18" across; as with most piano lamps, the standard is extendable with this one having a range of between 49" to 70". Materials include brass and copper. Patinated with gold, copper and bright brass finished. Condition: the removable font has been drilled on the side and fitted for electricity; there are several stamped silver metal decorations in relief on the side of the font: one is missing with small dents in the area where the relief was located; the font has other small dents; the extending standard needs adjusting to work properly when extending it. Decorative elements include fleur de leis, a knight on a horse and a dragon. This is a rare and very sophisticated design sold by one of the premier galleries in the United States. Shreve sold some of the best examples of design during this era. Price: $2,950.00.
