# 5182. An Art Nouveau - Hungarian Szecessziós kerámia- vase. Zsolnay - circa 1900-05. Size: app. 12.75" tall and 4.75" base. Condition: there have been at least 2 foot edge restorations, perhaps they were chips. The restoration is competent. Raised folkloric designs cover the entire surface of the high style vase. A pair of gold eosin handles decorate the upper section with a pair of 'flying buttresses' architecturally supporting the body of the vase to the base. Hearts, tulips and Hungarian folkloric embroidery style decorations are used. An uncommon form; we know of only one other identical vase which is located in the Zsolnay Archives of the Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs Hungary. After reviewing exhibition catalogues in our library, we feel that this vase was designed by Sándor Apáti Abt or by Henrik Darilek. Price $3,750.00.

Vase shown in the Museum Collection.

Green arrows show areas of edge restoration.
