Antique Lighting from The Drawing Room

# 5088. A gas newel post lamp. Appears to have been gas (at one time) though the top burner style represents a Carcel or Moderator design element. Brass with a wood base. Egyptian Revival circa 1875 era. Size: 24" tall to the shade holder with the shade adding 8" more inches; the base is 7" across. This is a very heavy lamp. The finish appears to have been polished many years ago and now is dull brass. The is a hole in the brass footing above the wood base which may have been for a gas key. The gas key below the 4" shade ring (which is a reproduction) is also a reproduction (not functioning). Still all in all, this is an impress newel post lamp that make a strong statement. Price: $1,500.00.
