# 5079. A small writing desk. 20th century. From the estate of Hugh D. Auchincloss of Hammersmith Farm, Newport, Rhode Island. Size: 21.75" across and 17.75" deep; the writing surface is 30.5" tall. Rosewood Veneer. The key markings indicate that this desk was made in Italy. To open this desk, one must use the key to pull the drawer open which causes the roll top or tambour to rotate back revealing the cubby holes; then the lid to the writing surfaces folds forward onto the open drawer. Condition: wax splatters; tiny abrasions to the surface. The desk should be cleaned with little effort to make it presentable. The form is high style retro and is a small and elegant desk. Hammersmith Farm for a period of time was a 'summer home' of President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy. Price: $1,650.00.THIS DESK HAS BEEN SOLD
