# 4886. An oil on canvas. Unsigned. Probably American. c. 1850-60. In a period gold gilt frame. Original stretcher. Size of canvas: 18" x 24". Frame size: 23" x 29". A pastoral scene in the woods, a dirt road traveled by a woman in a red coat and a child approaching a gate with a figure waiting to open and let them through. Either late spring or late summer. Condition: crackeling to the canvas, the picture appears to have been cleaned some time ago. Gesso losses to various edges of the frame. From a Newport Rhode Island home. Price: $6,500.00.
