# 4884. A highly unusual and rare table plateau. Age: 1800-1820. The mirrored surface is surrounded by fire gilt bronze urns with chains. Two gilt bronze 'torchiers' topped with Amethyst Balls are attached through the mirror. A painted black wood frame is supported with four fire gilt bronze hairy paw feet. The mirror has probably been replaced at some time in the past. The urns on each long side are cast onto a frame allowing the framed ensemble of urns and chains to be lifted off the mirror intact. We really don't know the purpose of this plateau, either for essence display, power mixing surface or some esoteric / mystical purpose. Size: 8" x 13.5" with the mirrored surface: 6.5" x 12.5". 7.25" tall to the top of the Amethyst Ball. Value: priceless - cost: $1,550.00.
