The Zsolnay Store

Item # 4691. A large Secession Style Vase. Size: 24.75" x 8.5" x 8". Fine white earthenware, pressed, hand shaped design; brilliant green Eosin glazed leaves and chestnuts against a red marbled and mottled high fired red glaze. Marked impressed on the base: " 6443" and the letter "M"; round raised Zsolnay factory mark of the era. C. 1901. The high relief decoration showing chestnut branches, leaved and nuts is extremely well formed. Mack designed a series of similiar forms using this motif. This form was exhibited in Turin, Italy in 1902. Condition: tiny edge flakes to relief decorations. In the book "Zsolnay Art Pottery The Guygyi Collection" a similar form is pictured on page 157. figure # 325. P.O.R.
