# 4552. A Zsolnay Vase from The factory in Pecs Hungary. c. 1900. Size: 8.25" tall and a foot size of 2.5" across. Condition: foot edge flake viewable from the side and foot edge flake viewable from underneath the vase. Minor scuffs consistent with use and age. A glaze study: complex runny glazes of fire-yellow/red/brown dripping onto a blue and blue/grey ground. This is the only example of this particular glaze we have come across from the Zsolnay Factory. Jeno Farkashazy (Fischer) at the Herend Manufactory of Porcelain in 1900 experimented with a similiar glaze. Also produced around 1900 were copper enamelled vases made by Jakab Rapoport in Budapest. His similiar forms and glazes to this example won awards at the Turin International Applied Arts Exhibition. The photos below show details plus the last image shows this particular item sizewise in context to other Zsolnay items in our Gallery. This Zsolnay Vase has been sold.
