Pottery from The Drawing Room of Newport.

# 4051. A Choisy vase: made in France. 11" tall. Marks: incised: '1288 M3' and printed in a circle the initials: 'LCB' and '2018 B'. Gallery label from a Newport Rhode Island firm of E.P. Allan which was established in 1831: Erastus P. Allan had a shop that sold glass and china and earthenware at 63 65 Thames Street; he lived above his shop. Rim edge wear thru the glaze of about 3". Both the front and back of this vase is decoration. If this were a marked Rookwood vase the price would be several thousand dollars. The back is decorated with flowers. This vase was sold from Mr. Allan's shop and has since not left Newport. Dates from the late 19th century. Price: $1,250.00.

This details the edge where the color of the glaze is different: it looks like a restoration, but . . . the shiny glaze seems to go over the area without a repair line.
