# 3959. I believe that this particular American Art Glass vase is Durand made by the Vineland Flint Glass Works of Vineland, New Jersey. Unsigned. Similiar works by Tiffany, Steuben and Quezal. This item is shown in DURAND THE MAN AND HIS GLASS by Meschi on page 72. He identifies it as a Syrup dispenser which would account fot the short collar at the top where the metal cap would go. White glass inside, gold (variously shaded with satin and glossy finished and a favrile ness to the surface. No pontil but a slightly recessed coin size area to the center of the underside of the vase. Footprint: 5.5"; top opening: 3.5"; 11" tall. Condition: tiny, tiny flakes to the rim. Tiny Surfaces scratches consistent with age and cleaning.I suspect that this was a base to a lamp and a cap covered the top. The entire surface of this vase has a satin finish with the exception of a one inch band at the base of the vase: that area is glossy. Price: $495.00.
Lit from the inside.
