Antique Porcelain from The Drawing Room Antiques.

Item # 3504. A rare figural portrait in Parian of Archduke Ludwig Viktor (1842-1919). He was referred to as "Luzi-Vuzi". He was the gay youngest brother of Franz Josef, Emperor of Austria - Hungary. The figure is wearing a Kusma furcap which was used from 1864-1867 by the Austrian Army. The maker of this item was Gille, Vion & Bauny which was in production between 1837-1868. Incised on the plateau or stand is "Photosculpture" and I believe "es France". Size: 20" tall and a base diameter of 7.25". Condition: there are multiple condition flaws: 1. both spurs on the figures boots are missing; 2. There was a plume of some sort in the furcap and it is missing plus discoloration around the plume area. 3. The sword is made of wood and we don't know if it is original or a replacement for a missing porcelain one. This is a very rare statue: the Archduke disappeared under house arrest for sexual misconduct and was ordered never to be referred to again in the Viennese Court until his death in 1919 ( a little known fact in Hapsburg history). He was imprisoned in a castle outside of Salzburg. This item is from a Newport Rhode Island Estate. Price: $5,500.00.
