# 325. An important Art Nouveau Lamp. Designed by Sandor Apati Abt for The Zsolnay Factory in Pecs Hungary. Form number 6300 which dates this to the year 1900. Size: 22" tall. Marks: round raised factory mark, incised form numbers and partial price sticker stating the cost in Kronas which states 20050. Abt's incised mark on the outside back pedestal. Condition: both hands have been broken off and re-attached; a broken and missing thumb on the lower hand and a loss to the first finger of the upper hand. This figure was originally surrounded by a metal armiture which held leaves and electrical sockets (3). That armiture was missing when we purchased the lamp. We have applied an antique metal armiture, with leaves and white porcelain flowers and a single socket, to the opening at the feet of the figure. The fit is quite good and now this Zsolnay figure has an appearance similiar to its original configuration. The glaze is a silky copper Eosin with definate separation: the face and chest of the figure is a gold Eosin; the base or pedestal on which she stands is a marbled copper/blue eosin. The classical robed figure is extremely well modeled and probably represents some important concept or theme in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Further research is needed. P.O.R.

The round raised factory mark and the incised form number (6300).

The is the paper label which above (missing torn area) usually states the form number (6300) and the bottom figure ususally states the cost in Korona which is 20050.

The green line shows the break to the hand and the arrow shows the loss to the thumb.

The green line show the area of the break of the hand and the arrows show the loss to both fingers.

Art signature for Sandor Apati Abt.
