# 302. A Zsolnay vase titled: "Water Lilies in Moonlight". Size: 6.5" tall x 9.5" across. Age: 1899. Condition: there is a small area where the glaze is not as smooth as the rest of the vase. An identical form may be found on page 180 (fig. 371) in "Zsolnay Art Pottery the Gyugyi Collection". The form number is incised "5092 1" and there is a paper label with hand written notations "5092 1 Fr. J S" The Fr. JS, we believe stands for Julia Sikorski, one of the two daughters of Vilmos Zsolnay. We purchased this vase from Rudolf Schmutz in Vienna in his home. We purchase many pieces from Rudolf over the years; this piece he didn't want to sell, but we talked him into selling it to us. He considered this the finest piece by Julia Zsolnay Skiorski. Stylistically the decor represents a theme by Rippl-Ronai. Price: $28,500.00.
