# 290. A fine example of the Egyptian line of ceramics. Terez M. Zsolnay daughter of Vilmos Zsolnay came out of retirement to create this extraordinary line of pottery. All reflecting an Egyptian motif. This form was also used by Julia {her sister}for Japanese decorated vases. Designed between 1924 and 1925. Gold Eosin, green Eosin and pale red decorations against a robins egg blue crackled glaze. Silky smooth surface. A very pleasing form and decor. Even appealing to those who do not collect Zsolnay, but wish to own a beautiful example of an Art-Deco era art pottery vase. Size: 17.5" tall. Condition: excellent. Marks: painted round dotted factory mark, unreadable incised form number. This exact vase was pictured in a book titled "Art Deco and Modern Ceramics" written by Karen McCready, published in 1995 by Thames and Hunson. A full page picture on page 50 as described: "Tall bottle vase with luster decoration inspired by Egyptian and Islamic wares, Zsolnay 1920's; the extraordinary skill of decoration at this factory is demonstrated in the intricate overall pattern." The source for this vase was Lillian Nassau, Ltd. in New York City. We purchased this vase from Lillian Nassau, Ltd. a few years ago. P.O.R.
