# 204. The Zsolnay Factory was asked to design and produce a selection of figures to be exhibited in the Hussar Room of the Hungarian Pavilion at the 1900 Paris Exposition. The factory designers including Sándor Apati Abt designed over 30 Hussar figures, representing Hussars from many Nations. Here we offer a single statue of a Hussar. Size: 12.5" tall. Fully marked with incised form number: 5771 & factory marks. We do not think that Abt designed this figure. Condition: as pictured (circled in green) on the back of the coat of the Hussar there is a small area in which the glaze was not applied to the figure plus an area under his cape has no white glaze. There appears to be no restorations to this figure that we can tell. {The most complete selection of these wonderful figures is on permanent exhibition at the Military History Museum in Buda (Pest / Hungary) located at Tóth Árpád sétány 40. This is a wonderful military museum and should not be missed. In the display of Hussars made by the Zsolnay Factory is the figure of Emperor Franz Josef riding a horse.}We have included a photo of designers at the factory in the workshop of Sandor Apati Abt and Lajos Mack. This image was taken at the time in which the Hussars were being modeled for the Paris Exposition of 1900. Taken in 1899 are pictured from left to right: Abt, Mack, Geza Nikelszky(seated) Henri Darilek (seated) with Gyula Pompar standing in the back. Price: P.O.R.
