Federico Santi & John Gacher of Newport Rhode Island

January 24, 2005

This is the day after the Blizzard of 2005 that we all dig out. I started about 8 a.m. It has warmed up to about 20 today; pretty comfortable after a low of 3 this morning.

That is a pile of snow next to our garage. January 24, 2005

The gas lamps cause condensation and long icicles. January 24, 2005

The snow in front of the shop is about 4 feet. I shoveled a path along the front so the post man could deliver the mail. January 24, 2005

Hopefully the street plow will not cover what I shoveled. January 24, 2005

Viewing the garden from the ground floor bathroom window of the shop. The snow banks are about 4' deep on the lower level. January 24, 2005

Looking up Division Street, the sky was a brilliant "Urban Blue" today. January 24, 2005

Early afternoon in the garden: long shadows. Two Red Tail Hawks today in the garden first thing in the morning. January 24, 2005

In the show, the garden with the copper roofed garden building look like a view out of the Great Northwest or perhaps the Alps. January 24, 2005.

We went out just to get out: to the drug store and grocery store, Morton went with us. January 24, 2005.
